**Our Interviewee(s)

When asked about the editing board of Abante Tonite, Mr. Nicolas V. Quijano Jr, the managing editor of Abante Tonite, simply stated that he was The Editor. He has several assistant editors who do the proofreading and the like. The group thus assumed that he was the overall editor- The Editor.

Abante Tonite staff has roughly Forty (40) Reporters and Forty (40) photographers working around the clock and spread over the metro. To add to that, they have 2 correspondents in Mindanao and 3 correspondents in Luzon.

They have around thirteen (13) editors touching in various topics including lifestyle (1), sports (4), entertainment, Business, Politics, etc. Also, eight (8) proofreaders and a group of eight to ten (8-10) IT Staff responsible for the online website.

Editorial deadlines are 9 o’clock post meridiem.

C. HISTORY

According to the brief history as told by Mr. Quijano, Abante Tonite was bought the year 1988 and was duly opened up on 1989 as a newspaper publishing company, by Mr. Nicolas Quijano himself and the group the made up Abante.

D. READERSHIP

Number of copies in circulation reaches around One hundred and fifty thousand (150, 000) copies, in Metro Manila only. The biggest circulation ever in Abante Tonite history was around Five hundred thousand (500, 000) copies. During Sundays, there is an observed 20% increase in readership.

E. PRINTING

Abante Tonite has its own printing area located behind the office area where editing is done. They follow the standard tabloid page measurement of 26x30 cm, with a Center spread of 26x54 cm. The printing web offset size of paper measures 29x31.8 cm.

The staff of Abante Tonite informs us that at the advent of computer technology, the process of Layout and Typesetting have become simpler. They use a software called InDesign for the layout process, while the photographs are still continually edited through Photoshop. Though they still require a page dummy for proof reading, the process of printing becomes shorter as the corrected dummy is once again fed into the computer and is printed onto the offset plate through a machine called CTP.
