Bagong Sinag Publications Inc., is the business name of a tabloid, which is publicly known as Remate and which is located in Legacy Building 1438 Quezon Avenue corner Scout Borromeo Street, South Triangle Quezon City. For editorial, they may be contacted in the telephone numbers (02) 3762062 and (02) 3762078 with fax number (02) 3762064, for advertising; (02) 3762063, credit and collection/accounting; (02) 3745810 and circulation (02) 3712537.

Remate does not have an editor in chief; instead, they have a Vise President for Publications and he is Mr. Reynaldo Briones. His job as a VP is to formulate policies and he acts as an editor in chief as well. In case of his absence, next in line is Ms. Susan Cambri who is the Managing Editor. She is in charge of supervising the daily operations of the company. After this they have eight page editors which some consists of Fred Cabalag, Lydia Bueno who is in charge of National news, Joe Cesar in Entertainment, Jocelyn M. Barlizo, Arnold Pajaron and Enrico Maclang. Remate has a total of fifty-eight reporters nationwide; eight editors and fifty correspondents who are paid per story. The number of their columnists varies and is based on the ratings.

The tabloid started off under the name Pinoy in 1989. It was then changed to Remate in 1991 when Sen. Pichay bought it by chance. This was because the former owner of the tabloid was closed due to high amounts of debt and Pichay just happen to buy the company.

Remate can print up to 60,000 – 80,000 copies per day including weekends. 20,000 of which are shipped to provinces at ten in the evening. The number of copies being sold/returned is estimated to be around 60-40 or sometimes 70-30. Usually, Remate will only have one issue a day but if there was a national emergency or a national catastrophe they will more or less make and print three issues a day. They ship their issues daily at 10 PM to the different provinces.

The Remate’s cut-off for daily stories is by 2-3 PM. The most is 5 PM, especially if there is a breaking story.

Printing of the Remate is done on the same location as the editorial. It is located in one building. Editing is done in an office while a door nearby leads to the printing machine. The page measurement is of the same size as the newspaper Abante. The length is 12.5 inches and the width 10.75 inches of the newspaper itself. The image size, meaning the size of the newspaper’s content, is 11.75 inches in length and 9.5 inches in width. The centrefold of the newspaper has a length of 20 inches and a width of 11.75 inches. Image size of the centrefold is 11.75 inches in length. The page layout is done electronically, using Adobe as the program. Their printing uses the web offset printing and starts at 9:00 PM, after the lotto. They use a camera and stripping. The print speed of the newspaper is 60,000 per hour.

A full page advertisement in the newspaper runs for 30,000+ pesos per page for black and white and 40,000+ pesos per page for full color. The more colors the advertisement uses, the more expensive it is. Advertisements on prime pages like pages 3 and 5, front page, back page and centerfold also are more expensive. Classified advertisements are categorized into three: commercial, judicial and legal.
