Todo Silip News Ngayon, formerly known as Todo Silip Expose (Update)

Update:

Ma'am Remy Jacobo, publisher of Todo Silip News Ngayon, has admitted that it is not a "wealthy publication." In fact, she has a pending libel suit filed against her due to an article done by one of her reporters that she failed to proofread. She related to us a few stories of how politics have a lot to do with small tabloids mainly because they reach the masses. She told us a story about some of her reporters that attended a mass baptism sponsored by ex-politician Mark Jimenez. The reporters were allegedly handed 1000 pesos each, presumably to give him positive coverage in Todo Silip. Another story worth mentioning is that of the Philippine Veteran's Foundation. They commisioned two pages worth of articles and photographs but, regrettably, did not pay for them. There were over 300 veterans and the work cost only about 36,000 pesos. Ma'am Jacobo commented on the group of aging war veterans, "Siguro patay na ang mga 'yan, kaya 'di sila nagbayad." (Most of those
men must have died, that's why they weren't able to pay back." It's a good thing that Ma'am Jacobo still has the ability to laugh over these issues, especially since she is the primary financier of the publication. She had many stories about politicians that failed to pay for work or copies they had ordered. We hope that our coverage of this little publication will help shed light on some issues on local print media.
